The entrance of the Swiss guard and the Vatican band

The cardinals, looking spiffy...

This looks like a Christian rock band's CD cover...

The opening of the Acheropita, the most venerated image of Christ

The Pope in action
There was a wonderful vocalist (it was most definitely NOT the girl siting next to us, she tried her hardest to butcher every song)

Can you share a private moment with 200,000 other people?
Part of Easter mass was in ENGLISH!!

The section of mass for us English speakers
This is a great clip of Benedict speaking.

The Pope doin' what Pope's do...

\Oh no, the Pope's on fire!!!! Never mind, it's just the incense....

The Pope with his reading glasses on
The Pope speaking and blessing the sacrament followed by the chorus singing "alleluia"

Quite possibly the largest communion of the year

The priests all had men following them with those stylish yellow and white umbrellas

Don't know who this guy is, but the Pope came to him. That's pretty amazing...
When the Pope left the stage, the crowd sang to him and finished with roaring cheers of "Viva Il Papa!"

Another crowd shot

Waiting for the Pope to speak
While the crowd waited, they chanted for Benedetto to come out!

Everyone was waving their country's flag
The Pope makes his encore appearance on the balcony.

Il Papa makes an appearance at the balcony front and center of St. Peter's. He's only here today, on Xmas day and immediately after being elected in the Sistine Chapel.

Treva and the Pope!

Us and the Pope!

The pope reading his Easter address.

The Pope granting the special Easter indulgence which absolves us of our sins. He even extended the indulgence out to our families, so you are absolved too!! Don't think that gives you an excuse to go out sinning tonight though...

Our little Easter group post Easter festivities.

The crowd on its way out.

The Roman Carabinieri band on their way out.

Every portion of the military had a part in the parade.

Yes, because those machine guns were ENTIRELY necessary at Easter mass!

Italian Green Berets with even bigger guns!

The Vatican band, we think they are retired Swiss guards.

Look how adorable the old men are! Some of them were so tiny :)

Swiss guards on parade.
